what we have done

We visited and delivered our "kits solidarios" (food baskets for 5 people for 2 weeks) to the rural community "Aragua" in Ojojona, municipality of Francisco Morazán: we delivered 30 food baskets, which were given to 30 different families. “Aragua” was chosen during a meeting with the Parish Priest of Ojojona, due to its high level of poverty and lack of access of natural resources such as clean water.

We delivered 105 lunches to the Social Security Hospital (IHSS) of Tegucigalpa staff, including doctors in the emergency room, the COVID-19 emergency room (for doctors and patients), and the security and cleaning staff. We chose to support the IHSS because we wanted to help the patients in need as well as to recognize the work of the people on the front line.

We visited and delivered 20 "kits solidarios" and 20 personal hygiene kits to the rural community "Ojo de Agua" in Yaguacire, Francisco Morazán. In addition, we gave an educational talk in which it was explained how to correctly wash a cloth mask and how to adjust a surgical mask to the face if it is too big for children. They were also given a pamphlet (with illustrations to avoid confusion if some were illiterate) containing symptoms of COVID-19, isolation measures to be taken if someone in the household contracts the disease, how to wash their hands correctly, and contacts they can reach out to if they present symptoms.

Due to the catastrophic impacts Hurricanes Eta and Iota caused in the northern area of Honduras on November 2020, we created the project “Sanando a Honduras” that focused on receiving donations of hygiene items, baby products, clothes for children and adults, and toys for the kids to play with since they have been through a psychological trauma as well. After all the material equipment was received, the donations were delivered to the affected areas.

We gave “care kits” with products for the newborn and provided women with essential information on pregnancy and postpartum care, information on what to do in risky situations such as if someone abused them in any way, and contacts to which they reach out to.

We partnered with the public kindergarten “Juan Almendares Bonilla” in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to deliver school kits and uniforms to all the students. This school is located in a precarious zone and in constant need of donations, therefore, we wanted to shed some light on these kids and their families so they can feel supported in their education journey. We plan to work with the administration of the school on future large-scale projects.
